Inaugurated by Her Royal Highness Princess Ashi Dechen Wangmo Wangchuck on the auspicious day of 13th May 1973, Punakha Central School is one of the oldest schools in the country. With 50 years immersed in institution, the school has been endeavouring to be the 'Centre for Excellence'. A Higher Secondary School offering classes from VII to XII, we have been dedicated towards offering a creative and innovative learning space for thousands of children. With a campus of over 54.548 acres, out school includes a lively 1-acre agricultural learning area, offers the perfect setting for character development, hands-on learning, and intellectual growth.
Punakha Central School is a day school for classes VII-X and a boarding school for classes XI-XII, guided by the principles of quality, inclusivity, and service. As a TVET Premier School with a focus on welding and electrical, it gives students the technical and vocational skills they need to be employable in the future. Additionally, the school is delighted to be a Special Education Needs (SEN) centre, guaranteeing that all students have an equal chance to learn, develop, and succeed.
