Daywise Itinerary

Your journey begins as you arrive at Paro International Airport, where our representative will warmly welcome you and assist you after you exit the arrival hall. From Paro, you will travel to the capital city Thimphu, enjoying a scenic drive through beautiful valleys and traditional villages.

Since Bhutan lies at a higher altitude, today’s activities will be relaxed to help you adjust comfortably.

In Thimphu, visit the National Memorial Chorten, a sacred monument built in memory of Bhutan’s third king, Jigme Dorji Wangchuck. This white stupa, decorated with golden symbols of the sun and moon, is an important spiritual site where locals gather daily for prayers and meditation.

Later explore Simply Bhutan Museum, an interactive cultural center that showcases traditional Bhutanese lifestyle, customs, and heritage.

Your day concludes with a visit to Tashichho Dzong, a magnificent fortress monastery that houses government offices and the throne room of the King.

Overnight stay in Thimphu.

After breakfast, begin your journey towards Punakha, one of Bhutan’s most beautiful valleys.

Before leaving Thimphu, visit the impressive Buddha Dordenma Statue, one of the largest seated Buddha statues in the world. From this hilltop location you can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the entire Thimphu Valley.

Continue your drive via Dochula Pass, located at an altitude of 3,050 meters. The pass is famous for its 108 memorial chortens built by the Queen Mother Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck. On clear days, the pass offers spectacular views of the Himalayan mountain range.

After reaching Punakha, visit the remarkable Punakha Dzong, an architectural masterpiece built in 1637. Situated at the meeting point of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers, this historic fortress serves as the winter residence of Bhutan’s chief abbot.

You will also walk across the Punakha Suspension Bridge, one of the longest suspension bridges in Bhutan, decorated with colorful prayer flags and offering scenic views of the surrounding valley.

Overnight stay in Punakha.

After breakfast, visit the beautiful Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten, built by Queen Ashi Tshering Yangdon Wangchuck. This temple was constructed to bring peace, stability, and protection to Bhutan. A short hike will reward you with stunning views of the Punakha Valley and surrounding countryside.

Next, visit the sacred Chimi Lhakhang, a temple dedicated to the famous Buddhist saint Drukpa Kunley, also known as the “Divine Madman.” The temple is widely known as a fertility shrine where couples pray for children and blessings for their families.

After exploring Punakha, drive back to Paro, enjoying scenic landscapes and mountain views along the way.

Overnight stay in Paro.

Today you will experience the vibrant Paro Tshechu, one of Bhutan’s most famous religious festivals.

The word “Tshechu” refers to the tenth day of the lunar calendar and is considered a sacred time for spiritual celebration. During the festival, monks and local performers present traditional masked dances that depict Buddhist teachings and legends.

Colorful costumes, sacred rituals, and lively music create an unforgettable cultural experience. Another interesting highlight of the festival is the appearance of Atsaras, the traditional clowns who entertain the crowd and maintain order while adding humor to the celebrations.

After breakfast, begin the famous hike to Paro Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest Monastery), Bhutan’s most iconic and sacred landmark.

Perched dramatically on a cliff about 900 meters above the Paro Valley, the monastery stands at an altitude of approximately 3,120 meters. According to legend, the revered Buddhist master Padmasambhava flew to this location on the back of a tigress and meditated in a cave here.

The monastery was later built in 1692 by Tenzin Rabgye around the sacred cave.

The hike offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and valleys and is one of the most memorable experiences in Bhutan.

Return to Paro after the hike and relax.

Overnight stay in Paro.

After breakfast, your Bhutan journey comes to an end. Our guide and driver will transfer you to Paro International Airport for your onward flight.

Before leaving the hotel, please ensure you have your passport, tickets, and necessary travel documents ready for airport check-in.

We hope you had a wonderful experience discovering the culture, spirituality, and natural beauty of Bhutan.

Have a safe and pleasant journey!
