Package Description


The Nub Tshona pata trek takes you through the mountains of Haa in western Bhutan. The trek is considered unique and unexplored as many do not trek this region. Besides rich local lore, the turquoise colored Nub Tshona pata Lake, verdant and pristine forests remain as the highlight of the trek. The trail meanders through invigorating forests of rhododendrons and juniper and spectacular passes of 4350m high from the sea level.

Daywise Itinerary

On your flight to Paro, if the weather permits, you will be able to spot snowcapped Himalayas including mount Jomolhari and Jichu Drake in Bhutan. Our guide will be waiting to receive you and transfer to your hotel. Later in the day you will visit Ta Dzong, originally a watch tower now converted into a museum. This 17th century old fortress holds varies displays of antique collections. Next stop is the Rinpung Dzong literal translation –“Fortress of heap of jewels.” Another Lhakhang you will visit is the Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest and most divine temple of Bhutan. Overnight hotel in Paro.

Today you will hike to the famous Taktsang Goemba. The monastery has a remarkable history and even looks quite extraordinary perched on a hill side. It is believed that Guru Padmasambhava flew here to meditate on the back of a tigress. The hike is about 5 to 6 hours journey through pine forest and rhododendrons, ascending 900 meters above Paro Valley. Towards afternoon drive to Haa valley and visit white and black temple if time permits. In the evening you can explore Haa town. Overnight hotel in Haa.

14KM|5-6 HOURS|230M ASCENT| DESCENT 60M|CAMP ALT 2870M

Today your trek begins with a gentle climb up to the Talela Pass at 3780m through a thick forest of rhododendron and conifer forest. You will continue gradually ascending to a yak herder’s camp at Tshojo. Climb up further to Gochula Pass which is at 4200m. After this pass, walk through the trail following a ridge and then descend gradually to our camp at Womji

22KM|7-8 HOURS|690M ASCENTS|CAMP ALT 3750M

Start your trek by climbing steeply through juniper and rhododendron forest to the Gochhila pass at 4350m, providing spectacular views of the whole Tshejala range. You will continue walking to Tshejalum passing through several yak herders’ camp and in spring the trail will be carpeted with wild flowers. You will then walk towards Tshejala pass crossing the ancient trade route from Haa to Tibet

You will spend the day enjoying the area around this sacred lake, visiting the yak herder’s camp and seeing the golden trout or exploring the surrounding hillsides.

19KM|6-7 Hours| 855M ASCENT

You will retrace as far as to Gochhila pass. From the pass take a different route over a ridge to Lake Tshojo at 3780m. You will have a picnic lunch on the lake shore. After lunch you will descend to the camp in a yak meadow at Tshojo.

10KM|3-4 HOURS|660M ASCENT|660M DESCENT

The last days trail descends gradually through juniper and rhododendron forest until you reach the Talila Pass. Crossing the pass, you will re-enter the Haa valley. Your trek ends here and your transport will be waiting here to take you to Paro. Overnight in the hotel.

After your breakfast, you will be driven to the airport for departure. Our representative will bid you goodbye.
