Daywise Itinerary

Your Bhutan adventure begins with your arrival at Paro International Airport, where you will be warmly welcomed by your guide. You will be transferred to your hotel in Paro, allowing time to rest and acclimatize to the altitude. In the afternoon, visit the impressive Rinpung Dzong, a striking fortress-monastery overlooking the Paro Valley. Later, explore the charming streets of Paro town and its traditional market before settling in for an overnight stay.

The day is dedicated to acclimatization and cultural exploration. Begin with a visit to the iconic Taktsang Monastery, dramatically perched on a cliffside and considered one of Bhutan’s most sacred sites. After returning, continue to Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest and most revered temples in the country. Spend the remainder of the day strolling through Paro town, enjoying the peaceful atmosphere. After breakfast, drive to the trek starting point near Paro to begin the legendary Druk Path Trek. The trail ascends gradually through forests of pine and rhododendron, offering beautiful views along the way. By afternoon, reach Jele Dzong, a historic fortress perched high above the valley with sweeping mountain views. Camp is set near the dzong, where you can enjoy dinner surrounded by pristine Himalayan landscapes. Overnight camping at Jele Dzong.

The trek continues through alpine forests and open ridges as you move toward Jangchulakha. Crossing the scenic Jangchu La pass, you are rewarded with breathtaking Himalayan views. The trail passes through yak-grazing pastures, creating a sense of remote wilderness. Camp is set at Jangchulakha, where the evening is spent enjoying the silence of the high mountains. Overnight camping.

Today’s trek leads through beautiful valleys and gentle mountain terrain toward the stunning Jimilang Tsho. Surrounded by towering peaks, this high-altitude lake is known for its serene beauty. Upon arrival, camp is established beside the lake, allowing time to relax and absorb the peaceful surroundings reflected in the crystal-clear waters. Overnight camping near Jimilang Tsho.

The trail ascends gradually through alpine meadows and mountain passes as you trek toward Simkotra Tsho. Along the way, enjoy sweeping views of rugged peaks and deep valleys. Upon reaching the lake, camp is set nearby, offering another night immersed in Bhutan’s untouched high-altitude wilderness. Overnight camping near Simkotra Tsho.

Descending through forests of blue pine and juniper, the trek leads to the sacred Phajoding Monastery. Perched high above Thimphu Valley, this spiritual site offers panoramic views and a tranquil atmosphere. Take time to explore the monastery and soak in its serene surroundings. Camp is set near Phajoding, providing a peaceful night in a spiritually significant setting. Overnight camping.

After breakfast, descend from Phajoding to Thimphu, enjoying scenic views as the landscape transitions from wilderness to city life. Upon arrival, visit the revered National Memorial Chorten and explore the lively local markets. Visits to the Textile Museum and Folk Heritage Museum offer insight into Bhutan’s traditional arts and rural lifestyle. Overnight stay in Thimphu.

Depart Thimphu and drive back to Paro through scenic valleys. Visit Kyichu Lhakhang once more for a peaceful spiritual experience, followed by a visit to Rinpung Dzong, overlooking the Paro Valley. The evening is free for relaxation, shopping, or a leisurely walk around Paro town. Overnight stay in Paro.

After breakfast, transfer to Paro International Airport for your onward journey. Depart Bhutan with unforgettable memories of the Druk Path Trek, its pristine landscapes, and the deep spiritual calm of the Himalayas.
